Apave is an international group with over 150 years' experience specialising in risk management. Apave has strong regional roots in France with a network of 130 branches, including the Fontaine laboratory.

Located in Isère near Grenoble, our Fontaine laboratory covers 1,500 m² and is COFRAC accredited (Notified Body No. 0082). Our laboratory specialises in the certification of fall protection PPE, helmets and respiratory protection equipment, for which it provides CE marking (leader in France for fall protection PPE and respiratory protection).

Located in Isère near Grenoble, our Fontaine laboratory covers 1,500 m² and is COFRAC accredited (Notified Body No. 0082). Our laboratory specialises in the certification of fall protection PPE, helmets and respiratory protection equipment, for which it provides CE marking (leader in France for fall protection PPE and respiratory protection).

It offers the following services:

Respiratory protection devices

• Certified PPE: Filtering devices, breathing apparatus, half-mask filters, full-face masks, particle filters, motorised filtering devices, SCBA, compressed air breathing apparatus, etc.
• The Apave solution: French notified body for the CE marking of respiratory protective devices (RPD), with more than 10 years' experience in France, Europe and internationally.
• Main tests carried out: inward leakage, solid and liquid particle filtration tests, respiratory resistance - CO2 content of inhaled air, practical performance tests, flame engulfment, etc.

PPE for head protection

• Certified PPE: industrial safety helmets, industrial caps, electrical insulation helmets for low voltage installations, helmets for mountaineers.
• The Apave solution: • French notified body for CE marking of helmets since 2009 for our international customers • UIAA approved laboratory for mountaineering equipment
• Main tests carried out: Shock absorption and penetration test, Retention system efficiency/strength, Flame resistance tests, Lateral deformation, UV chamber (artificial ageing)

PPE against falls from height

• Certified PPE: For work, for mountaineering and climbing, for leisure craft, harnesses, fall arrest systems, work positioning systems, dynamic ropes, connectors, lanyards, semi-static ropes, anchoring devices, crampons, pitons, ice axes, safety lines, etc.
• The Apave solution: French notified body for CE marking of PPE since 1992
• Certified PPE: Testing of equipment not covered by CE certification: lifelines, anchorage devices, guardrails, etc. France, Europe and international, UIAA-approved laboratory for mountaineering equipment
• Main tests carried out: Fall tests, mechanical tests, climatic and salinity tests

PPE Eye and face protection

• Certified PPE: Personal eye and face protection
• The Apave solution: • French notified body for CE marking of personal eye and face protection equipment since 2018 for international customers. • Eye and face protection for professional use (EN ISO 16321-1)
